Why reading is so important

The last few days I’ve been reading “The alignment problem” and “The man from the future”(biography of John von Neumann). I realized how difficult it is to write a book. You can’t write if you haven’t read a lot of books, and you can’t have anything to write about.

So the first reason to read is that in order to write , you have to read some books first, and in order to reamin an independent thinker and not be controlled by an AI, you have to do you own writing.

The information book can contain is way larger than other medium like podcast and video. To read a book is the best way to absorb the knowledge.

The second reason to read is that reading is a little tedious than watching a video containing extra sound and picture. To spend several days to read a book implies you are a person who can bare solitude to do something that can’t get immediate benefits. This personality trait allows a person to excel at anything they do.
